hmmm..consider this!
Published 1 year, 9 months ago in My life.WOW! so i just started philosphy at school this year and it is totally awesome! weve been reading from sophocloes, Thomas Nagael and Descartes and it has really got me thinking about solipsism. so my question is this: are there any solipsists out there who will talk to me and tell me about it? i know that if you’re a solipsist then you may not see any point in replying, but think of it as enhancing your own understanding… from what i have read, there is nothing to disprove it nor prove it, like most concepts. but the foundations, principles are quite probable that solipsism is a possibility in my mind…anyone who doesnt agree with it feel free to post as well…i’d like to hear what you think!!

i did a philosophy minor but got worse at it as it became more mathematical. it was harder than my business studies ! my fave subject was greek philosophy all that plato, aristotle stuff.. what is solipsism btw

I don’t know much about philosophy - hated studying it and got drunk a lot instead or as well. Having said that, teenage Christians who consume too many fizzy drinks and giggle at the phrase “bite me'’, should not be seeking the company of solipsists - they are likely to actually bite you. Anyone who denies the existence of an external physical world beyond their own perceptions - including the existence of other minds - is psycho killer material. By all means study the philosophy of psycho killers if it takes your fancy, but don’t invite them into your nook.
Stick with Descartes. He thinks many things therefore he is many things - or at least he used to. Now he’s just dead. I think. But that doesn’t mean I’m right. It just means that I am. I hate philosophy.

okay…so: am i christian? yes. do i beleive in god? yes. Do i beleive in religion? no. i think that poeple should be able to do what they think is right for their own beleifs, ad shouldnt have to follow all of these rules that are set out by other people. the reason im christian is because its the one religion ive found that i feel most fitting to, but i dont beleive in the religion itself.
i dont think im a solipsist, but i think that its a pretty cool idea none the less

dont mean to be abrupt, but im not one of those giggly girls. i drink fizzy coz i dont want to be drunk at 16. i want to be around as a safety net for my friends who do drink, and i dont giggle: the phrase ‘bite me’ is a joke from our friend group. Question: why would a solipsist want to kill me? after all..i dont exist to them. oh and i really like Descartes, but remember that he was a main influence on solipsism

Solipsism is the philosophical idea that “My mind is the only thing that exists”. it is an epistemological or metaphysical position that knowledge of anything outside the mind is unjustified. The external world and other minds cannot be known and might not exist.
if anyone finds philosophy interesting or has some good concepts to debate…here’s the place!
